You're a mapping monster D:

Had a chance to play around with it. I love maps with strong weather - adds to the immersion.

Anyways, it's already shaping up to be a good looking map. As far as gameplay is concerned, theres a few spots - mainly around the 1st and 2nd objectives, that seem like they might be suicidal, as accurate as rifles can be in this game. Maybe a little more cover is in order. Won't know for sure though until it's played with a few people.

The wooded plank by the second objective that goes over the hedgerows seemed a little out of place... but that could just be me.

Aesthetically, how difficult is adding pools of water? I'm completely dumb when it comes to mapping, so I don't know how hard it would be, but as I was playing it, I really wanted there to be muddy water everywhere - along the roads, puddles on the ground, etc.

Overall, I'm excited for the map. Will be a welcome addition.

Have you thought of maybe putting allies on the defense? Might be a nice change of pace.

I would suggest a additional area from 0 (base spawn?) to number 1, just above the 0.

Oh and the lighting with the rain reminded me of this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xxElnjaWiQE Maybe you can add a church in the town as a final objective?

Snuffel, try playing with the staticproppolys and staticproplighting commands. It's a bit annoying that that shadows cast won't darken player models, but as long as there's no huge clusters of foliage, all the shadows will be pretty neat and well placed, so you wont really notice the un-shadowing shadows issue.

if you want to add them, go into the expert/advanced settings for compile, and add

Code:
-staticproppolys -staticproplighting

to the VRAD/lighting process routine.

Thanks for the comments, I'll see what I can do with them =).

Maybe if Axis have 3 or 4 MGs they have the firepower to attack. Would perhaps be a lot of fun =).

Awesome. I like where it's going - the trench sections promise some interesting gameplay.

Keep it up

That looks like a new and very enjoying RnL experience! Posibility of adding slightly more rain maybe? Can make it a little more intense. To be honest, I have no tips to give, there is just nothing to discuss about! Good luck with your map!

The trenches remind me of falaise, where's that gone haha.

Looking good, i wouldn't mind a tall structure, perhaps a tower or silo, similar to err, CoD2 i think. That sort of map with open fields then a farm would be good. Not sure how you can fully implement that idea but i'm just throwing them at you.

I keep reminding people there's a whole host of WW2 fps to copy off

I gave that second copy a run-through. I like it, it "feels" good. Sort of reminds me of call of duty 1/2.

Snuffel, I tried to send you a PM but your inbox is full.

WOW Snuffel, that looks great!

If you want something witht he 82nd AB, you might use this little info:
Quote:
The division dropped behind Utah Beach, Normandy, France between Ste Mere-Eglise and Carentan on June 6th, 1944. They were reinforced by the 325th GIR the next day. The division remained under strong German pressure along the Merderit River. Eventually, the 325th GIR crossed the river to secure a bridgehead at La Fiere on June 9th. It was during this action that Pfc Charles N. DeGlopper single-handedly defended his platoon's position and subsequently was awarded the Medal of Honor for his heroism.

The next day the 505th PIR captured Montebourg Station and on June 12th the 508th PIR crossed the Douve at Beuzeville-la-Bastille and reached Baupt. They established a bridgehead at Pont l'Abbe on June 19th. The division then attacked down the west coast of the Cotentin Peninsula and captured Hill 131 on July 3rd. The following day the 82nd seized Hill 95 overlooking La Haye-du-Puits.

Maybe you can pick a name from it.

Hmm... how about...

rnl_thunderbolt

EDIT: Had a chance to play around on it a bit today. I gotta say I love how it's coming along. A lot of concealment, and the map gets more and more immersive with every release. Theres one section in specific, I think it's the hill on the left side of pic #8 in your post - it seems like it's just kinda there. Was wondering if you were planning on opening that up at all? Maybe even just dense foliage than can be proned through?

Looking excellent, I hope you make this map really expansive. I'd love a large maze of hedgerows, twisty roads, ditch-forests and creeks in this sort of rainy environment.
